As I began to look at my explorations I found that they each had a few connections but overall stood on their own. I began to think of who I am and what has shaped me as a person. Growing up in a Latin American country made me a HUGE soccer fan and a player for 9 years. As a teenager I became a fan of bull fighting also. Thru the book I brought in parts of who I am and my layout shows what how my design is fairly clean cut and not very experimental.

for this exploration i matched pantone chips to those colors used by teams that have won world cups.
some connections i found in my readings this week:"this is how they get generation after generation of young artists to join the profession." -mirko ilic
(ilic had a point- there is something that draws us into a career may it be design as it may be soccer)
"when it can just pop up and the audience roars, then you know you've done that graphic right." -jim hanas, speaking of fake political TV graphics
(getting people to respond takes a lot, as a designer we thrive for others to understand and respond to our work while athletes seek to build a group of fans for success)
"just because you can, doesn't mean you should." -karsten schmidt, speaking about the movent of type and graphics
(just because you are capable of using a program and everything in it does not mean you use it in every design, in soccer you need to vary your technique according to the team you are playing or the position you are in)
"in germany, board games are more than sturdy and beautiful objects, they are a way of life."-blake eskin
(our passions and the dreams we follow become our life)

for my exploration i looked at different grasses and dirt.
the various colors, textures, lighting, etc. each one was unique and different but they all are the same thing. we walk over these everyday and often overlook them or see them all in the same way.
_"people think that design is styling. design is not style. it's not about giving shape to the shell and not giving a damn about the guts. good design is a renaissance attitude that combines technology, cognitive science, human need, and beauty to produce something that the world didn't know it was missing." paola antonelli
we miss and overlook a lot of what is right in front of us, the world is a beautiful if we take the time to look at it.
_"doing simple things demanded methodical, even surgical, procedures" -michael bierut speaking on his early design career
grass and soil are simple things but taking the time to see the different kinds in our surrounding is something i often overlook, each different kind is found in its environment.

some connections that i found: (what is in "" is the connections to the reading)
i looked at each object or a part of the object for : "an underlying theme, a motive for coming into existence."
each item had a different feel to it and the pattern it created made it unique it: "reflected a physical truth"
textures and materials things are made out of make us automatically make connections with our experiences we all have : "universal emotions"
some words that stood out and reflect what many of these patterns and textures remind me of are "adventure, variation, challenge, structure, material"
I thrive for interesting textures and patterns. I love busy patterns and bright colors and for this experience I tried to focus on less obnoxious ones and documented a more natural set.

2.
we have to commit to the rules and regulations, even though we may find ways to dodge them.
we each have different methods of approach and our strategies vary.
we are connected to what we do. it may be for the moment or a long term attachment, a collection of our memories, learning experiences and accomplishments.
